2026 IMUA Scholarship Program

Illinois Municipal Utilities Association (IMUA) is offering a $1,000 scholarship essay contest to eligible graduating high school seniors whose families reside in an IMUA municipality.  A total of four (4) finalists will be chosen by the IMUA Scholarship Committee. The City of Breese will award an additional $2,500 to the IMUA Scholarship winner if the selected student is a resident of Breese. This increases the total scholarship amount for a Breese resident winner and highlights the city’s commitment to supporting local students.

Each finalist will receive a finalist certificate and a $1,000 award from IMUA to be used for college tuition. The student must reside in City of Breese.  Winners will be announced sometime in April.

Each eligible applicant is asked to submit an application and an essay of 500 words or less addressing their choice of one of five (4) utility-related issues/questions.

The deadline for submitting applications and essays is Friday, March 13, 2026.  Applicants may contact IMUA’s DeeDee Bunch at dbunch@imea.org or (217) 789-4632 for more information.
