Over the next few months, the City of Breese Electric Department is upgrading electric meters throughout the community to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). This new system provides secure two‑way communication between smart meters and the utility department and delivers real‑time usage data to help improve service, reliability, and efficiency.
When it’s time to replace the meter at your property, our employees will knock on your door to let you know that power will be briefly disconnected to complete the exchange. The interruption will last less than one minute, and your electric service will resume immediately afterward.
